Transitioning from a military career is a difficult task. While it may appear to others that it is just a job transition, studies show that this is not the case. Following a military career, finding a new civilian job is difficult.
The civilian employment sector has distinct job requirements and speaks a different language. It has little to no comprehension of the skills and expertise acquired via military service.
Military personnel acquire a set of skills that are both distinctive and adaptable. While in the military, you have learned a lot of skills.
Some are risk management, security, leadership, work health and safety, business, and emergency management. It does not matter whether you served for a short or long time.
Here is where the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or military RPL comes to the rescue.
RPL is a method of determining your knowledge and abilities concerning a qualification or part of a qualification. Identification, mediation, assessment, and recognition of abilities acquired through informal, non-formal, or formal learning are all part of the process.
RPL is also for those who have worked in a specific sector for a certain amount of time but do not have the necessary qualifications. The information and experience obtained can be used as proof in the RPL process for that individual to obtain a qualification or part of one.
The credentials that are available to members of the military through military RPL are sometimes surprising. Serving in the Army, Navy, or Air Force has given the military personnel a lot of training, skills, and practical experience.
You don’t have to sit in a classroom and learn about stuff you already know if you get your credentials through military RPL. You only need to produce proof that you covered it in your employment.
Fill out the pre-assessment form, and the certifying body will provide you with the information you need to take the following steps toward your career and qualification objectives.
Gather proof to establish your past abilities and expertise with our support, such as a recent résumé, reference letters, and examples of work accomplished, and submit it online for our assessors to analyse.
The certifying body will contact you for a competence chat and, if necessary, a practical observation after reviewing your evidence portfolio.
You might have specific gaps in the requirements for the certificate. Most bodies would have courses to fill up the gaps. Fill up any gaps in your earlier learning and improve your qualifications if necessary.
The Registered Training Organisation (RTO) issues your new credentials, which are nationally recognised. You’re now ready to start your new job and expand your horizons.
You can’t merely buy a qualification through the military RPL procedure. It is a formal assessment procedure in which persons who meet the criteria for each unit within one or more qualifications are recognised for their knowledge, abilities, attitudes, previous education, and training.
Military people are well-qualified candidates for a high degree of recognition for various vital qualifications, as we know. They are Nationally Recognized and may be utilised in a variety of public and commercial sector enterprises across Australia.
