Lock him up.
2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton called for accountability while the Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol listened to testimony from former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.
“We cannot let those who attacked our Capitol on January 6—and those who urged them on—to get away with impunity,” Clinton tweeted. “That’s what happens in dictatorships and authoritarian regimes.”
Clinton defeated Trump by more than 3 million ballots in the 2016 popular vote, but Trump was elected to the presidency in the Electoral College following a campaign in which he frequently called for Clinton’s incarceration.
Chants of “Lock her up!” were commonplace at Trump rallies.

While Clinton didn’t name her old rival specifically in her Tuesday tweet, it came while the top aide to Trump’s chief of staff was describing the former president as an ill-tempered tyrant who added to the chaos surrounding the assault on the nation’s capitol to stop the certification of the new president. Among the more shocking revelations made by Hutchinson is that Trump was told that supporters who gathered on Jan. 6 were armed, but he wasn’t concerned because “They’re not here to hurt me.”
Trump, who was banned from major social media platforms following the assault on the Capitol, posted a rambling attack against Hutchinson on the Truth Social media platform he launched as an alternative to Twitter.
“I hardly know who this person, Cassidy Hutchinson, is, other than I heard very negative things about her (a total phony and “leaker”),” he claimed.
Trump frequently distances himself from people who speak ill of their experiences with him, both personally and professionally.
He also claimed Hutchinson wanted to join other Trump staffers on a trip after he left office, but according to the former president, he made the 25-year-old former aide “very upset and angry” by not wanting her on that visit. Trump further referred to Hutchinson as a “wacko” and a “third-rate social climber” in his 90-minute Truth Social screed, where he continued falsely insisting the 2020 election had been rigged.
“She is bad news!” he claimed.
Cassidy has not commented on the alleged trip Trump referenced.
