A California man was able to pull his son out of a lake and to safety Sunday before drowning, according to officials.
Marciallo Perez, 35, dove into Lake Berryessa around 3 p.m. when he saw his son floundering, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
The young boy, who has not been identified, made it safely to shore but Perez never resurfaced.

His body was found about an hour later.
Officials warned everyone to wear a life jacket when in or near the water.
Perez’s death comes just days after Demetrio Perriatt, a 16-year-old high school baseball star, drowned in the same area while trying to retrieve a raft that had been blown by the wind.
